If you have any questions, feedback, or privacy-related concerns, please contact us at feedback@caner.hk. We take every inquiry seriously and will do our best to respond quickly and clearly.1. Introduction
Welcome to Caner Weather Channel (“we”, “our”, or “us”). We operate the website weather.caner.hk and its related mobile services (“the Service”). Your privacy is important to us, and we want to be completely transparent about how we handle information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we process, how we use it, and what choices you have. We follow all applicable laws, including the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and Google Play’s User Data Policy. Our guiding principle is simple: we only handle what’s needed to make our weather service work well, and we don’t collect or share anything that could personally identify you. We don’t track you, we don’t sell data, and we don’t build any form of advertising or marketing profiles. Everything you do on Caner Weather Channel stays private and anonymous unless you decide to save a few preferences, like your favorite city or temperature unit.
2. What Data We Handle and How We Use It
Our service doesn’t require you to create an account or share any personal details. We don’t ask for your name, phone number, email address, contacts, payment details, or anything that could identify you. Most of the time, we don’t collect anything at all. When you open our site or app, we may temporarily use a few technical details like your browser type, screen size, language, or an approximate location so that we can display the right weather information for your area. This is all automatic, and none of it is stored in a way that can link back to you personally. Once your forecast is shown, this information is discarded.
If you agree, we may use cookies or local storage on your device to save small bits of information like your last searched city, preferred units (Celsius or Fahrenheit), or your language settings. These help the app remember your choices and make things a bit smoother next time you visit. All of this is optional — if you say no or clear your cookies, the service will still work fine, it just won’t remember your preferences.
We don’t use any advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or background monitoring. The only third parties involved are our weather data providers (for example, Open-Meteo or OpenWeatherMap). They only receive the necessary anonymous data, like your region or city name, to generate the forecast you requested. These providers follow strict data protection rules under GDPR or similar regulations. We make sure they don’t store, sell, or reuse the data for anything other than providing weather information. All communication between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS to keep your information secure while it’s being transmitted.
Our system doesn’t access your camera, microphone, messages, photos, or files. It also doesn’t read your device identifiers like IMEI or Android ID. We don’t collect background data, and nothing runs or uploads information when the app isn’t in use. Everything that happens is limited to what’s necessary for the forecast you request.
3. Data Protection, Retention, and Your Rights
We use the small amount of technical data we handle only to provide and improve the weather service. It helps us make sure the site displays correctly on your device and that forecasts load quickly and reliably. We never use this data for advertising, profiling, or sharing with other companies. We don’t keep server logs that identify users, and temporary request data is deleted once it’s no longer needed.
If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, our legal reason for handling minimal technical data is our legitimate interest in providing a stable, secure, and functional weather service. When cookies or local storage are used, the legal basis is your explicit consent. You can withdraw this consent at any time by clearing cookies or adjusting your browser settings. Because we don’t collect identifiable data, you don’t need to make formal deletion or access requests — there’s simply nothing to remove. But if you have questions or want clarification about anything we’ve described here, you’re welcome to contact us at feedback@caner.hk and we’ll be happy to explain.
We take data security seriously. All transmissions are encrypted, and our systems are regularly checked to prevent unauthorized access. We don’t store any personal data on our servers, and we don’t back up user activity since we don’t record it in the first place. If one day we introduce features that require an account, you’ll always be told exactly what’s collected, why it’s needed, and how to delete it permanently if you choose to stop using the service.
Caner Weather Channel fully complies with the Google Play User Data Policy. We disclose clearly what kind of data is accessed, why it’s used, and how it’s protected. We don’t collect anything in the background, we don’t sell data, and we don’t share it with advertisers. Every piece of information stays within the strict limits of providing weather forecasts safely and efficiently.
We also comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Our services are suitable for users of all ages, and we don’t collect any data from children or target them in any way.
4. Data Storage, International Transfers, Policy Updates, and Contact Information
We don’t keep long-term records of your use. Any temporary technical data processed for weather delivery is deleted automatically once the request is complete. If you choose to allow cookies, those preferences remain only on your device until you clear them. When we work with weather data providers located outside your region, we make sure that any data transfer happens under strong protection measures like the EU’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure it’s handled with the same level of care everywhere. These providers are contractually required to follow our privacy and security standards and to use the data only for weather forecasting.
We might update this Privacy Policy from time to time if the law changes or if we introduce new features. If that happens, we’ll post the updated version at weather.caner.hk/privacy with a new effective date. We encourage you to check occasionally so you’re aware of the latest version, but we’ll always keep things simple and easy to understand. If you continue using our service after any update, it means you’re okay with the revised terms.
